The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Osun State has destroyed a farmland spanning about 60.5 hectares where cannabis is grown, parading the suspects involved.
The cannabis farmland is located in Ikeji Arakeji, Oriade local Government Area of the state.
The state commandant of the NDLEA, Mr Samuel Egbeola who disclosed this shortly after parading the two suspects apprehended on the farm in Osogbo the state capital said both cannabis farm were identified following a tip-off from intelligent sources.
The NDLEA had earlier destroyed 60.1 hectares of cannabis farmland in Isokan local Government area of the state.
He said the agency equally seized ten bags of cannabis harvested weighed 107.4kilograms.
“The farms were located deep in the forest and with many obstacles to make the terrain difficult. They are usually located in difficult terrains. So we had to cross many rivers and hills before we got there,” Egbeola said.
The NDLEA boss during the parade said the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly after complete investigations. He also called on the public to always provide the agency with information on illicit drug plantations, especially cannabis plantations.
He said the agency would not relent in its fight against illicit drugs across the state.
